Thailand Travel Must Dos – Page 3

  1. Chiang Mai

Northern Thailand’s undisputed capital is a complete antithesis to the chaos of the south. The erstwhile Lanna kingdom seat is charmingly laidback with its forested hills, monasteries built on ancient stupas and fabulous food. Enjoy a motorcycle ride while feasting on the region’s numerous rainforests, waterfalls, elephant parks and souvenir markets.

  1. Wildlife Spotting – Khao Sok National Park

Known as one of the nation’s most pristine wildlife reserves, the Khao Sok National Park features a lush forest cover, gorgeous lakes and lots of limestone karsts. The wildlife sanctuary is home to a plethora of wild species including biggons, macaques, barking deer, langurs and Asian elephants. Scenic waterfalls and a dip in its balmy waters is the perfect foil for your tired, touristy soul.

  1. Historical Discoveries – Ayuthaya

Dating back to the 14th century, Ayuthaya is sitting pretty on an island in Chao Phraya valley. Once referred to as the planet’s most magnificent city, the ancient relics are a major draw for tourists today. Located at 80 kilometers from Bangkok, this makes for a perfect sightseeing day trip.

  1. Kanchanaburi

Slightly off the beaten tourist path, western Thailand’s Kanchanaburi is perfect for its accessible national parks and stunning waterfalls. The destination teems with museums and cemeteries that offer a testimony on the 1940s Japanese invasion. Visit the Erawan or Srinakarind National Park on the outskirts of Kanchanaburi to finish off the trip in the midst of the heady wilderness.
