How to do Paris in a Day

We get it. It seems impossible. Paris in a day? How is that even possible? Believe us, it’s not easy, but if you’re crunched for time in this fantastic city, don’t worry too much, we’ll help you out. Whether you’ve got a packed itinerary, or you’re just passing through, one day in Paris is definitely possible.

Before we get started on your day, here are few pro tips when it comes to a packed day of travel:

  • Wake up early. The earlier you’re up, the more time you have to explore!
  • Public transportation is your best friend! It’s fast and cheap.
  • Load up on coffee and get ready for a long day! Yes, chances are you’ll get tired, but don’t let that ruin your perfect day.

Head to Notre Dame

Notre Dame in Paris

It’s time to start your day off bright and early! Once, you’re ready to go, we recommend your first stop be Notre Dame. Notre Dame opens every day at 8:00 a.m., and while we know it sounds awful, it’s best to get there right when it opens. By doing this, you avoid lines and get an early start to your day, which will allow for more time later. After exploring the inside of the stunning cathedral, you will even have the opportunity to go up to the top. Whether or not you do this is a personal choice, as the line to go up can sometimes be long, giving less time for other things. It’s up to you!

See Some Great Art

Musee D'orsay in Paris

The Musee d’Orsay and Louvre are right across from each other, so take your pick! Keep in mind, people will spend their entire day in the Louvre, so if you’re looking for a quick trip, the Musee d’Orsay might be the best option. The best way to get from Notre Dame to either of these museums is on foot. The walk is not long, and you can make it into a scenic stroll along the Seine. If this is not an option of course, buses are constantly making their way through the city, and are a great option as well.

Lunch in the Garden

Lunch in Tuileries Garden

Head on over to the Tuileries Garden, which is adjacent to the Louvre, and just across the river from the Musee d’Orsay. So wherever your art adventure takes you, this beautiful garden is nearby and ready to explore. In addition, it is scattered with various eateries where you can get a bite to eat. Relax in the sun a little while you treat yourself to a crepe!

Visit the Eiffel Tower

Tour d'Eiffel

The most efficient way to get the Eiffel Tower done is by skipping the long line that it will often have. We have two ways that you can do this. You can buy a skip-the-line ticket ahead of time, which is most often the cheaper option, or you can pay for a tour. Most private tours will come with a ticket to the tower and will allow you to skip the line. Choose whatever works best for you.
