We don’t know about you, but visiting all Seven Wonders of the World is definitely a must do when it comes to our bucket list. Who doesn’t want to travel the world and see some of the most iconic sites known to mankind? We definitely do! So of course, we just had to make a post about all Seven Wonders of the World and how you can make the very best trip to each of them.
The Great Wall of China
This famous landmark was originally built in order to protect the Chinese empire from invaders. As a whole, the wall stretches roughly 4,000 miles, making it the longest manmade structure in the world. The most famous sections of the wall are just within a 1-2 hour drive from Beijing. So pack your bags and get ready for your next big trip to see this historic landmark, while also exploring the fascinating city of Beijing.
Christ the Redeemer Statue
This statue has more recently become one of the Seven World Wonders, as it was built less than 100 years ago. The 130-foot tall statue stands on a mountain overlooking the ocean in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro. There are three ways to get to the top of the Corcovado mountainside to get up close and personal. You have the option to hike, take a cog train or take a van up and into the scenery. Have fun crossing this one off your list!
Machu Picchu
After exploring the nearby city of Cusco, Peru, be sure to make your way up to one of the most famous wonders of the ancient world. Machu Picchu is an ancient Incan city, built in the middle of the breathtaking Andes Mountains. The site was abandoned by the Incas and stayed relatively unknown by outsiders until 1911 when it was found by an archeologist. Options for getting up to the city are limited; it can only be reached by foot, helicopter or a train from Cusco.
Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza is no doubt, the most famous and recognizable site for Mayan ruins there is. Nearly everyone has seen pictures of the famous pyramid that features towering stairs and a small temple on top. The biggest city within the area of the archeological site is Cancun, which is roughly a two-hour drive. There are a variety of tours you can take from Cancun and Playa del Carmen that will take you to right to Chichen Itza. While you’re there, be sure to take a quick swim in a cenote. Cenotes are natural swimming holes scattered around the area, and most tours to Chichen Itza will take you to one. Enjoy!
The Colosseum
The Roman Colosseum is one of the most amazing things you’ll have the chance to visit in your lifetime. The ancient amphitheater was used for gladiatorial events back in the day. Now, what’s left of the Colosseum thousands of tourists visit in a day, and much of the structure is still being investigated by archeologists. You’re in luck too, because this World Wonder sits right in the middle Rome. One minute you’re visiting the Trevi fountain, and the next you’re at the Colosseum. Have fun exploring the city!
Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor to house the remains of his wife. The architecture is considered the perfect example of Muslim art in India. The breathtaking structure is actually meant to showcase Persian, Islamic and Turkish architectural styles as well. The white marble shines in the daylight and seems to make the palace change color. Not only is this marble monument amazing, but how could we forget the beautiful gardens surrounding it. Take this time to visit India and explore the city of Agra, where the Taj Mahal is located. Petra
The lost city of Petra, in Jordan, was just declared a World Heritage Site in 1985. Petra the capital of the Nabataean Empire, was best known for their water technology and of course, their beautiful structures carved into stone and cliffsides. Petra sits tall on a cliffside, where tourists from all over the world visit. There is also a lot more to Petra than just the infamous monastery. You can take a walk through the Siq, a narrow gorge, and see the gorgeous treasury, or you can make your way over to the royal tombs. Either way, Petra is a city of ruins, with so much to do, so you won’t have a problem spending your whole day there. There are a variety of tour packages when it comes to Petra, but since tours can be on the more expensive side, you can also opt for public transportation.
