Imagine a pastel world where everything is a visual feast, and everything tastes as good as it looks. Part art installation, part interactive museum, the Museum of Ice Cream—in San Francisco and Los Angeles—is an experience you won’t soon forget. Great for all ages, there’s an unexpected, Instagram-worthy element in every room, from edible exhibits to their signature sprinkle pool.

Weird Museum of Broken Relationships – Zagreb, Croatia

Most people want to get as far from a poor relationship as possible. But that doesn’t mean that dipping into other people’s broken relationships isn’t fascinating and entertaining. The Museum of Broken Relationships shares in the collective misery of love gone wrong. Exhibits include video confessionals, items full of romantic memories gone sour and, in one case, an ax a woman used on her ex’s furniture. This museum is a must visit whenever you’re in Zagreb, Croatia. (Deep breath. Take a moment. They also have a location in LA. There you go.)

International Spy Museum – Washington, DC

The only museum in the world dedicated to espionage, the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC is a saucer full of secrets. While you’re there, enjoy interactive exhibits that teach the tricks of the spy trade, both historic and fictitious. So, yeah, Bond. So there’s that. This museum is sure to be a hit with history buffs, gear fanatics and kids of all ages. What are you waiting for? Start up that Aston Martin.

Museum of Bad Art – Boston, Massachusetts

Instead of hiding the lackluster, the weird or the just plain awful, the three locations of the Museum of Bad Art in Massachusetts seeks to celebrate these works of “art.” Enjoy a day of off-taste art and embrace the peculiar. Who knows, you may find your own so-bad-it’s-good piece. And then again, you may not. Nevertheless, it is always fun to clown around and doing so amidst a backdrop of psychotic surrealism, lackluster landscapes and pure bad taste certainly serve up wondrous opportunity. Try a real art museum immediately after and test how your appreciation for the good stuff has deepened.

UFO Museum and Research Center – Roswell, New Mexico

If the truth is out there, this museum is a good place to search for it. The UFO Museum and Research Center has the goods to support the argument (save a few small, albeit necessary details omitted by some secret Fed group not withstanding). This is the place where both believers (perhaps Beliebers) and skeptics can engage in high stakes debate, at a place that contains memorabilia and press from the highly debated flying-saucer crash in 1947 Roswell. Information in and around other reports of otherworldly phenomena can be found here as well.

The Lunchbox Museum – Columbus, Georgia

We’re just going to go ahead and let you figure out what’s in this one. Ah, what the hay? This is an impressively curated collection of lunchboxes, presumably since lunchboxes (or at least their progenitors) became a thing. Conceived and developed by Allen Woodall, this museum pays homage to the intricacies of the metal lunchbox. In an odd, albeit not as surprising as it should be, twist of fate, a museum dedicated to southern crockery can be found on the same parcel of land. Please forgive us if we do not go into further detail.

Sulabh International Museum of Toilets – New Delhi, India

What kind of person would spend their precious time and energy to celebrate seasons of potty past? Fortunately, we have an answer for you – Dr. Blindeshwar Pathak. The good doctor of doody receptacles offers a copious study of this essential, though rarely, prominently displayed subject. The exhibits review the historic evolution of the throne and examines how they differ around the world.

Paris Sewer Museum – Paris, France

(No, not beneath the Louvre)

Once you’ve fully immersed in the world of toilets, there’s only one place left to go. No need to guess; just meet us at the Sewer Museum. Glamorized in cinema over the last century, just watch Brad Pitt’s and Antonio Banderas’ introduction scene in Interview with A Vampire, and you’ll learn that the city is built upon endless subterranean catacombs and sewers. Fortunately for you (and us) this underground museum, once a sewer itself but now, quite mercifully mind you, no long used for getting rid of Parisian’s business.
