Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco
We bet you thought we were going to leave Puerto Vallarta off our list of the Mexican Riviera. No list like this would be complete without Puerto Vallarta included in it. Puerto Vallarta is a booming resort town in the middle of Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Dubbed “The Friendliest City in the World”, many tourists are cordially welcomed here each day. This growing city is packed with culture, cuisine and well worth a visit to take the stress off of your shoulders.
Manzanillo, Colima
Manzanillo is an important shipping port for goods in and out of Mexico City. Even with a lot of traffic-related to the day-in and day-out business, Manzanillo is a great place to visit if you’re looking to spend some time in the Mexican Riviera. Fishing is popular in Manzanillo and is a major draw for tourists visiting the city each year. If you’re looking for a destination that’s a little less traveled than the other stops on our list, this would be the one.
Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca
Puerto Escondido is located in southern Mexico and isn’t a very well-known destination. The city translates to “The Hidden Port”, which couldn’t be truer since this location is essentially out of sight and out of mind. Puerto Escondido caters more to the adventure seekers who wish to cut their own path and might be traveling on a tighter budget. This destination is almost devoid of all the big high-rise resorts. If you like to travel in a more laid back fashion without all of the typical tourist traps maybe this place is worth considering.
San Blas, Nayarit
San Blas is a tiny town, yet, a popular place to visit. The town has been inhabited for more than 500 years but has never boomed in population. It’s only home to less than 9,000 people officially. (WOW!) If surfing is your thing, this just may be your sanctuary. The beaches here are less crowded than most of the major tourist destinations. Enjoy a waterfront without the wall-to-wall buildings. If you need some peace and quiet, this just may be your next spot.
